Vintage Kramer Guitar Pages Introduction

These pages are about vintage Kramer guitars manufactured from 1980 to 1990.

Kramer guitars started out in 1976 as a company deeply rooted in the guitar traditions of the 1970's. Brown guitars that were heavy. With models derivative of earlier Travis Bean designs, in retrospect one could see how the "style" would have a dated vibe. (Excluding the basses.) Kramer Guitars made a bold move at the beginning of the 1980's to reinvent itself. In the process, Kramer was put on the map by their acquisition of Edward Van Halen as their "premier" endorsee in 1982. The addition of Floyd Rose made them a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

As one of the main innovators of guitar designs in the 1980's, Kramer introduced a vast number of cool guitars with the sort of things that guitar players wanted.

Kramer assembled a network of  talented individuals that developed products that became the most coveted and copied during the 1980's.

Our emphasis is US models with only cursory attention paid to the import models. This text currently does not cover bass guitars or the aluminum neck models of the period.
