(No number) 1981 N/A Prototypes and some early guitars have no numbers.
AXXXX 1981-1982 Stamped Two styles of plates were used. Started at A5000-ish.
BXXXX 1982-1983 Stamped Two styles of plates were used.
BXXXXX 1988-1990 Stamped One style of plate was used. (Surplus "B" plates exist.)
CXXXX 1983-1984 Stamped Two styles of plates were used.
DXXXX 1984-1985 Stamped Two styles of plates were used.
EXXX 1985-1988 Stamped One style of plate was used. Ripleys only.
EXXXX - EXXXXX 1985-1987 Stamped One style of plate was used.
FXXXX - FXXXXX 1987-1990 Stamped One style of plate was used. (Surplus "F" plates exist.)
GXXXX 1989-1990 Stamped One style of plate was used. (Surplus "G" plates exist.)
10XX 1985-1988 Engraved One style of plate was used. Ripleys. 50+ plates total.
XXXXX 1983-1986 Stamped One style of plate was used. Custom ordered instruments.
XXXXXXX 1986-1990 Inked On back of headstock. (Set neck guitars.)
* Note: Some neck through guitar are not serialized. (The reason for this is unclear.)
